KAI Commuter reports smoke on Cikarang–Kampung Banda train due to debris
KAI Commuter reported that smoke was seen rising from the top of a Commuter Line train on the Cikarang–Kampung Banda route at Cikarang Station on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 12:02 WIB on track 4.
Technical teams discovered that debris or trash near the train's pantograph caused friction, which resulted in the smoke. As a safety precaution, officials lowered one pantograph unit on the sixth carriage of the train. The train was declared safe by 12:25 WIB.
The incident caused a 27-minute delay for the affected service. KAI Commuter diverted passengers to an alternative Commuter Line service on track 1 to maintain travel flow. The company urged the public to maintain cleanliness around railway tracks and avoid littering, as debris can pose significant safety risks to train operations.
