KAI Commuter serves 10 million passengers in Surabaya area through July 2026

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) reported that the Commuter Line Area VIII Surabaya network served over 10 million passengers between January and July 2026. This represents an 8.15% increase compared to the 9.25 million passengers recorded during the same period in 2025.

The network, managed by KAI Commuter, facilitates travel across East Java, connecting Surabaya with cities such as Sidoarjo, Malang, Kediri, and Blitar. Current services include 50 daily trips across lines such as Dhoho, Penataran, Jenggala, Arjonegoro, Supas, and Blorasura.

Vice President of Corporate Communication KAI, Anne Purba, noted that the increase reflects the growing necessity for intercity travel related to work, education, trade, and tourism. Over the last two years, the passenger count has grown by approximately 2.66 million people compared to 2023 levels.
