KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto reports rising foreign tourist rail usage

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 5 Purwokerto reported a significant increase in foreign tourist usage, with 19,034 international passengers using rail services between January and August 2026. This represents an 11 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025 and marks the highest volume for this period in the last five years. Purwokerto Station served as the primary entry point for these travelers, recording 8,415 foreign passengers.

In conjunction with its 81st anniversary, KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto also conducted a social service initiative providing free cataract surgeries. Held at RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong in Kebumen Regency, the program assisted local residents in improving their quality of life through specialized medical care.
