KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Handles 39,320 Passengers on Last School‑Holiday Day

On Sunday 12 July 2026, the last day of the school‑holiday period, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya served a total of 39 320 rail passengers – 18 300 departures and 21 020 arrivals. Manager of public relations Mahendro Trang Bawono said the volume was about 21 % higher than on non‑holiday breaks, reflecting heightened mobility as families returned home.

Since the holiday began on 22 June, the division has accommodated 984 422 passengers (492 660 departures, 491 762 arrivals). Weekend traffic during the holiday (10‑12 July) reached 65 196 departures, compared with 54 059 on comparable weekends outside the holiday period, confirming the 21 % uplift. The three busiest stations were Surabaya Pasarturi (11 697 passengers), Gubeng (11 132) and a third major hub. KAI emphasized safety, security, comfort and punctuality throughout the day.
