Kai Havertz faces goal drought at Arsenal despite Arteta's confidence
Arsenal striker Kai Havertz is facing a goal-scoring drought, having failed to score in his last seven appearances. Despite a strong start to the 2026/27 campaign, including two goals in the first three Premier League matches and a goal in the Community Shield win against Manchester City, his scoring output has slowed since a victory over Chelsea.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains supportive of the German forward, expressing confidence that Havertz has the ability to reach a target of 25 to 30 goals this season if he maintains fitness and consistent playing time. Arteta highlighted Havertz’s high football IQ and competitive character, noting that the player often feels personal frustration when unable to find the net.
Havertz currently holds the starting striker position over Viktor Gyokeres, despite the latter being the club's top scorer in the previous 2025/26 season. Analysts suggest that for Havertz to regain his lethal form, he may need to refine his positioning and focus on occupying ideal centre-forward roles rather than dropping too deep or drifting wide.
