KAI issues travel advisories and announces holiday transport stimulus
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has issued several updates regarding passenger travel and transportation incentives in Indonesia. KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta has advised passengers to arrive at stations earlier on October 28, 2026, to anticipate potential traffic congestion caused by planned student demonstrations scheduled to begin at 13:00 WIB.
To support travel during the 2026/2027 Christmas and New Year holidays, the Indonesian government has allocated approximately Rp883.4 billion for transportation stimulus. This program includes a 30% discount on economy class train tickets for travel between December 22, 2026, and January 4, 2027. Additionally, a 30% discount on base fares for Pelni passenger ships will be available for travel from December 17, 2026, to January 10, 2027.
Separately, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta is opening opportunities for community collaborations in public spaces, such as Manggarai Station Park. Recent activities include the ‘Saling Sangga’ installation art exhibition and the ‘Kelas Kanvas’ social program, which provides free drawing classes for local children.
