Kai Pflaume sets Guinness World Record by running marathon during TV show

German television presenter Kai Pflaume has set an official Guinness World Record for the longest distance run during a television broadcast. While hosting the new season of the ARD quiz show “Wer weiß denn sowas?”, the 59-year-old completed a full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers.

The feat took place in a studio in Hamburg, where a 30-meter track was established. Pflaume completed approximately 1,407 laps in a total time of 5 hours, 53 minutes, and 21 seconds. To facilitate the attempt, the production included a portable toilet in the studio, which was shown during the broadcast.

Pflaume was supported during the run by team captains Bernhard Hoëcker and Wotan Wilke Möhring. A Guinness World Records official monitored the attempt to ensure all criteria were met. Following the broadcast, Pflaume shared his achievement on social media, displaying his official certificate and laurel wreath.
