Kai Trump suffers wrist injury during collegiate golf debut
Kai Trump, a freshman golfer at the University of Miami, suffered a wrist injury during her collegiate debut at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The injury occurred when her club struck a hard surface, believed to be a hidden cart path, beneath the ground.
While attempting to continue playing, the pain intensified during a driver swing on the tenth hole. Medical examinations revealed a “little sliver” of damage to her cartilage and ligaments, though she did not suffer a complete tear. To accelerate her recovery and minimize time away from competition, Trump is undergoing stem cell injections administered by pain management specialist Dr. Jeffrey Wiegers.
The injury impacted her performance at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, where she finished tied for 102nd in a 120-player field.
