Kai Trump suffers wrist injury during first collegiate golf tournament
Kai Trump, a 19-year-old student-athlete at the University of Miami, suffered a wrist injury during her first collegiate tournament at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in South Carolina.
Trump reported that the injury occurred when her club struck hard ground near a cart path, sending a shock through her arm. While attempting to continue, she felt further pain on the tenth hole after hitting her driver. She clarified that she did not suffer a full tear, but instead sustained damage to a “little sliver” of cartilage and ligaments.
To avoid surgery, Trump is undergoing treatment involving stem cell injections administered by pain specialist Dr. Jeffrey Wiegers. She finished the tournament tied for 102nd in a 120-player field and is expected to return for competition in mid-October.
