Kai Trump undergoes wrist surgery, pausing Miami golf season

Kai Trump, a 19-year-old freshman on the University of Miami women’s golf team, has undergone surgery to repair a left wrist injury, sidelining her for the current collegiate season.

Trump, the granddaughter of Donald Trump, announced the procedure via Instagram, noting that the decision was made following consultations with her family, coaches, and athletic training staff to ensure her long-term health. The injury was sustained during her first tournament of the season in September at the Golfweek Fall Challenge. She described the moment of impact as feeling like a shock to her arm after hitting a hard surface near a cart path.

The surgery was performed by hand specialist Dr. Michelle G. Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. This follows a previous wrist surgery Trump underwent in January to address issues with her ECU tendon and triangular fibrocartilage complex. While she did not provide a specific recovery timeline, she expressed determination to return to the sport stronger.
