Kai Trump’s luxury vacation and rally bracelet spark US affordability debate

President Donald Trump’s 19‑year‑old granddaughter, Kai Trump, posted a YouTube vlog showing a luxury vacation in Costa Rica with high‑school friends. The video, viewed by more than 1.5 million subscribers, featured poolside activities, mountain hikes and beach outings, and was shared alongside a TikTok lip‑sync. The trip was highlighted against a backdrop in which 95 % of surveyed Americans say the United States is facing an affordability crisis, prompting critical comments linking her privileged travel to the president’s economic policies.

At a Republican rally in Marietta, Georgia, Donald Trump displayed a custom‑made friendship bracelet inspired by Taylor Swift, which had been created for Kai Trump. The gesture was noted by the crowd but there was no confirmation that Kai received the bracelet. Kai, a social‑media influencer with nearly 10 million followers, is also a collegiate golfer set to join the University of Miami’s team and has recently appeared at the ESPY Awards and other high‑profile events.

The two incidents illustrate the public contrast between the Trump family’s high‑profile personal activities and growing concerns among Americans about economic strains.
