KAI Wisata reports surge in Panoramic Train passengers
KAI Wisata reported a 62.86 percent increase in passengers for its Panoramic Train service, serving 140,583 customers between January and August 2026 compared to 86,322 during the same period in 2025. This growth aligns with a rise in international tourist arrivals to Indonesia, which reached 10,578,286 by August 2026.
In West Sumatra, KAI Divre II also noted a rise in foreign interest, with 5,427 international passengers using local rail services through August 2026, a 6.70 percent increase from the previous year. This trend highlights the growing role of rail travel as both a transportation mode and a tourism experience in the region.
