Kailali police arrest eight in fatal ceremony dispute

Police in Kailali, Nepal, have arrested eight individuals following the death of 52-year-old Yagya Bahadur Bohara. The victim died after being beaten during a dispute at a ‘Pasni’ (rice-feeding ceremony) in Nigali, Chure Rural Municipality, on September 21 or 22.

Preliminary investigations suggest that after the physical altercation, which reportedly stemmed from a dispute involving the abuse of a wife, the victim was beaten until he lost consciousness. To conceal the crime, his body was allegedly taken to a cliff in the Tulikhet forest and thrown off to make it appear as though he had fallen.

The arrested individuals include the host of the ceremony, Dhan Bahadur Bohara, as well as Man Bahadur Bohara, Govinda Bohara, Yagya Bahadur Bohara, Dilip Dhami, Ram Bahadur Bohara, Gambhir Bohara, and Tilak Jethara. A homicide case has been registered based on a complaint from the deceased’s son, and investigations are ongoing.
