Kaima Hirano seeks MLB move via posting system

Seibu Lions pitcher Kaima Hirano intends to pursue Major League Baseball (MLB) via the posting system this off-season. Following the team's exit from the Climax Series, Hirano's potential move has become a primary focus.

Hirano, 26, earned the Pacific League's best ERA title this season with a 1.36 mark and 12 wins. MLB scouts have highly rated his versatility as both a starter and reliever, noting his command of various pitches including a 160 km/h fastball and a sweeper. Some estimates suggest a potential bidding war could see contract offers reaching up to $150 million over five to six years, with annual values estimated between $20 million and $25 million.

Seibu Lions General Manager Koji Hiroike acknowledged Hirano's desire to move to the majors, stating the club understands his ambition provided he continues to contribute to the team.

Additionally, pitcher Kosei Takahashi is reportedly considering exercising his overseas free agency rights, adding further uncertainty to the Lions' roster for the upcoming season.
