Kairouan authorities seize 5.3 tonnes of non-compliant food products
Authorities in Kairouan, Tunisia, seized 5.371 tonnes of non-compliant food products during a control campaign conducted in the Kairouan North and Kairouan South delegations. The operation was organized ahead of the Mouled celebrations to combat speculation, illegal commercial practices, and to monitor the availability and pricing of essential goods.
The inspection involved various regional departments, including commerce, health, and security services. Officials checked the availability of subsidized products such as flour, sugar, and mineral water, while also inspecting bakeries, restaurants, and shops selling fruits, vegetables, and dried fruits.
The seizure included items such as butter, dried fruits, bsissa, and chamia. The campaign resulted in two seizure reports, two infraction reports, eight warnings, and ten observation reports. Additionally, a proposal was made to close one business following the discovery of economic infractions, including a failure to display prices.
