Kaiserslautern celebrates 750th anniversary with festivals and international visits

Kaiserslautern is celebrating its 750th anniversary with a series of cultural events, headlined by the ‘Swinging Lautern’ Barbarossafest from September 3 to 5. The festival will transform the city center into a stage featuring live music across four stages, culinary offerings, and family-oriented programming.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, six international delegations from partner cities—including locations in Japan, the USA, Portugal, Bulgaria, France, and Germany—will visit the city during the first weekend of September. The visit includes an exhibition titled ‘Twin Cities – Unsere Partnerstädte’ at the town hall, tours of local research institutions, and visits to the city market.

Additional cultural programming includes a ‘Kulturandacht’ at the Marienkirche on September 6, featuring musical accompaniment by the jazz trio ‘My Funny Cellotine’.
