Kaiserslautern garden association proposes anti-extremism statute amendment
The board of the Verein Japanischer Garten Kaiserslautern e. V. has proposed an amendment to its statutes, scheduled for a vote on November 12, 2026.
The proposed change to Section 2, Paragraph 5, aims to establish the association as politically and religiously neutral while explicitly stating that it stands on the basis of the free democratic basic order. The new language specifies that the association will oppose extremist, racist, and xenophobic endeavors, as well as all forms of physical, mental, or sexual violence.
While the amendment does not explicitly name any political parties, the move is viewed as a measure to address potential extremism within the membership, specifically targeting affiliations with groups such as the AfD.
