Kaiserslautern: Man assaults and spits at police on ICE train
A 22-year-old man is facing multiple criminal investigations after an incident on an ICE train traveling from Saarbrücken to Kaiserslautern on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
According to the Bundespolizei, the man was traveling without a valid ticket and attempted to avoid inspection by locking himself in a train restroom. Upon the train's arrival at Kaiserslautern main station, the man attempted to flee but was apprehended by officers. During the confrontation, he reportedly insulted the officers, attempted to strike them, and was eventually handcuffed.
While being transported to the police station, the individual continued to resist and spat in the face of a federal police officer. A breathalyzer test indicated a blood alcohol level of 0.07 per mille, prompting a prosecutor to order a formal blood sample. The man was released at approximately 00:50 after calming down. He faces charges including fare evasion, insult, resisting law enforcement, and physical assault on officers.
