Kaishu Sano assists in Mainz 05 victory over Hamburger SV

Mainz 05 midfielder Kaishu Sano recorded his first assist of the season during a 5-0 victory against Hamburger SV in the second matchday of the Bundesliga. Starting in a defensive midfield role, Sano provided a through ball from an interception in the 19th minute to set up Sheraldo Becker's opening goal.

Despite significant transfer interest this summer, including a reported 30 million euro offer from a Premier League club, Mainz Sporting Director Christian Heidel confirmed that Sano would remain with the club. Sano, who joined from Kashima Antlers in 2024, is noted for his high interception and ball recovery statistics in the Bundesliga.

In other Bundesliga action, Ritsu Doan made his first start of the season for Eintracht Frankfurt, though the team suffered a 1-4 defeat against Augsburg.
