Kaitlin Kozell shares journey of 94-year-old grandmother with Slovenian roots

Canadian social media creator Kaitlin Kozell has gained significant online attention for sharing the journey of her 94-year-old grandmother, Stanka Koželj, who has Slovenian roots. Under the social media handle ‘Mama Shenanigans’, Kozell shares videos of their bond, often featuring traditional Slovenian cooking and family stories.

Stanka, who was born in Krašnja, Slovenia, fled to Austria during the war before eventually settling in Canada. Despite living abroad, she maintained her heritage by teaching her children Slovenian and ensuring her grandchildren learned Slovenian greetings. The family recently traveled to Ljubljana to visit Stanka’s birthplace, an experience Kozell described as making her feel ‘at home’.
