Kaizer Chiefs' off‑season exits set up rival clashes in 2026/27 Premiership
Kaizer Chiefs reshuffled their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership, confirming the departure of seven senior and development players. Five of those players – striker Tashreeq Morris and midfielder Gastón Sirino to Durban City, defender Siyabonga Gumede to Richards Bay, midfielder George Matlou to Stellenbosch FC and goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari to Kruger United – have signed with other South African top‑flight clubs, while Aden McCarthy moved abroad to Azerbaijani champions Sabah FC. The departures create the possibility that Chiefs will meet former teammates in league fixtures throughout the season.
In addition to the confirmed exits, speculation is circulating that the club may sell popular forwards Langelihle Phili and Wandile Duba to raise funds, and supporters have voiced criticism of new signing Adolf Mtasingwa. Kaizer Chiefs are scheduled to kick off their 2026‑27 campaign against Kruger United on 1 August.
