Kaja Kallas accuses US of pressuring Ukraine to accept Russian peace terms

European Union High Representative Kaja Kallas has accused the United States of pressuring Ukraine to accept peace terms favorable to Russia. Speaking at the European Parliament, Kallas asserted that American negotiators have been attempting to push Kyiv toward surrender for nearly two years.

Kallas emphasized that Ukraine's continued resistance is due to European support and argued that the EU must maintain a strong presence at peace negotiations to counterbalance Washington's influence. She warned that any peace agreement must be just and secure, rather than a capitulation that recognizes Russian territorial gains.

The diplomatic tension is compounded by deteriorating relations between the US and Europe. Reports indicate that President Donald Trump has made comments suggesting Zelensky is more difficult to manage than Putin, and Zelensky has expressed feeling betrayed by the Trump administration's approach to the conflict.
