Kakanj commemorates 30 years since death of Sister Danke Jurčević

Commemorations were held in Kakanj to mark the 30th anniversary of the death of Sister Danke Jurčević, a member of the Daughters of Divine Love. A memorial Mass was led by Monsignor Miro Relota, the Military Ordinary in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the Church of St. Peter and Paul.

Sister Jurčević was killed on September 30, 1996, in front of the parish Caritas building. She was 46 years old at the time and reportedly suffered eight stab wounds. Despite the passage of three decades, the full circumstances and motives behind her murder have not been completely clarified.

During the ceremony, Marinko Čavara, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, noted that her life serves as an inspiration for new generations. Monsignor Relota emphasized her dedication to serving everyone in Kakanj regardless of background, describing her life as a light in times of hatred.
