Kakao launches AI and education expert council for AI citizenship education

Kakao Impact Foundation inaugurated the “Saijoeun AI Network” – an expert council of AI and education scholars – at the Kakao AI Campus. The council will expand the foundation’s existing digital citizenship program into AI citizenship education, adding meta‑cognition and resilience to the curriculum.

The group, which includes professors from Seoul National University, Ewha Womans University, Seoul Education University and other institutions, will develop AI‑citizenship models, an assessment tool (AQ) and a curriculum for schools. Kakao plans to pilot the program in 20,000 students across 1,000 classes this year, hold a symposium in October to unveil the model, and roll it out nationally from 2027. Ryu Seok‑young, Kakao Impact board chair, said, “In the AI era, not only the ability to use technology but also understanding AI correctly and using it responsibly as citizens is even more important.”
