Kakao pledges full employment and welfare succession for AI spin-off

Kakao executives have pledged to maintain 100% of existing employment conditions and welfare benefits following the company's planned spin-off. During a recent internal communication event called ‘Open Talk,’ CEO Jeong Shin-a, CFO Shin Jong-hwan, and CTO Song Jae-ha addressed employee concerns regarding the transition to the new entity, tentatively named ‘Kakao AI.’

Management confirmed that all employment rights and obligations will be comprehensively transferred to the new company. This includes job security, vacation policies, work systems, and various welfare benefits such as the company cafeteria, childcare facilities, internal loans, and recreational facilities.

The restructuring process is being managed by a dedicated task force covering technology, finance, and human resources. A final decision on the spin-off is expected at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting on December 17. The split is scheduled for completion on January 1, 2027, with the re-listing of Kakao AI and the changed listing of the surviving entity, KakaoX, planned for January 27 of the same year.
