Kalamata Airport infrastructure criticized by New Peloponnese faction
The political faction ‘New Peloponnese’, led by Petros Tatoulis, has issued a sharp critique against the Greek government and the Regional Authority of Peloponnese regarding the state of Kalamata Airport. The group alleges severe infrastructure failures during the peak tourist season, claiming travelers are facing a lack of basic services, including access to food and water.
The faction specifically targets Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Regional Governor Dimitris Ptsochos, accusing them of ‘political inadequacy, indifference, and communicative fraud.’ They argue that while the Regional Authority claims to manage 1 billion euros in development funds from various sources like the Recovery Fund and NSRF, the reality at the airport contradicts claims of regional development.
Furthermore, the group alleges a lack of transparency regarding public spending on studies and communication campaigns, suggesting that the Regional Authority prioritizes political loyalty to the Prime Minister’s office over addressing the practical needs of citizens and the tourism industry.
