Kalamata Basket debuts in Greece's National League 2 with veteran Naso Perrotis
A new basketball club, Kalamata Basket, has been formed from the merger of Kalamata ’80 and Kalamata BC and will compete in the Greek National League 2, the third tier of national basketball. Veteran forward Naso Perrotis, who has played for the local team for seven consecutive seasons, will lead the squad, symbolising continuity as the club embarks on this historic start.
The team’s inaugural match is scheduled for 4 October 2026 against AE Achéron Kanalaki in the first round of Group 1 South. The National League 2 season features 60 clubs divided into five groups; Kalamata Basket has been placed in the South group alongside 11 other teams. The debut is described as historic for the region’s basketball scene.
