Kalamata Carnival: New regulations and organizing committee approved
The Board of Directors of Faris has approved the new updated regulations for the Kalamata Carnival. The 12-page document establishes the terms and conditions for participation, covering all official events, parades, and parallel activities. Under the new structure, an Organizing Committee has been formed, with Panagiotis Malamas appointed as President by the Mayor of Kalamata.
While the regulations were approved, members of the opposition expressed reservations during the session. Opposition members Eugenia Kouvela and Konstantinos Maravélias abstained from the vote, calling for greater clarity regarding the role of the Faris Board in relation to the Carnival Committee and requesting a formal report on the previous year's carnival.
The new regulations aim for qualitative excellence in events, emphasizing aesthetic criteria, technical proficiency, and safety, while seeking to connect carnival activities with local history and traditions.
