Kalamata FC returns to Greek Super League after 26 years

Kalamata FC has officially returned to the Greek Super League 1 after a 26-year absence. The club, nicknamed ‘Black Storm’, made its top-flight debut in Tripoli against Aris Thessaloniki.

Despite taking the lead twice during the match, Kalamata ultimately suffered a 3-2 defeat. The team’s return marks a significant milestone for the Messinia-based club, which had spent over two decades in lower divisions. Due to ongoing works at their home stadium, the team played its opening matches away.

Following the match, Kalamata’s Sporting Director, Daniel Batista, shared a message regarding the team's performance and the historic nature of their return to the highest level of Greek football.
