Kalamata hosts 6th International Choir Competition and Festival

The 6th International Choir Competition and Festival in Kalamata, Greece, is concluding with a series of major cultural events. The festival has hosted over 1,200 choristers representing 17 different countries, including delegations from China and Malaysia, fostering a multicultural atmosphere in the Messinian capital.

A large parade featuring the participants took place through the city's historic center, accompanied by the Municipal Philharmonic of Kalamata and the Municipal Philharmonic of Messinia. Despite earlier rain, the procession moved from the historic center to the central square, where participants displayed national flags and banners.

The event culminates in an awards ceremony held at the Tenta Indoor Gymnasium. The festival is recognized as a significant institution for the cultural identity of Kalamata, promoting music as a universal language that transcends borders.
