Kalamata launches Youth Climate Action Fund for local residents

The Municipality of Kalamata has launched the Youth Climate Action Fund, a program designed to empower residents aged 15 to 24 to transform their ideas regarding climate, sustainable development, and urban improvement into tangible actions. Participants can receive funding ranging from 1,000 to 4,500 euros per proposal, alongside necessary guidance and support for implementation.

An official information session was held at the Kalamata City Hall, attended by representatives from schools, the University of Peloponnese, and various stakeholders. During the event, Vasilis Papaefstathiou, Deputy Mayor for Strategic Planning and Climate Neutrality, presented the city's Climate Action Plan. The program focuses on four priority areas: enhancing youth climate knowledge and action, promoting sustainable mobility and emission reduction, upgrading public spaces and accessibility, and strengthening the circular economy through waste reduction.

Interested groups of at least two people can submit applications between September 3 and October 10, 2026.
