Kalamata to invest €1.05 million in Spiritual Center energy upgrade
The Municipality of Kalamata is set to proceed with an energy upgrade for its Spiritual Center, backed by €1,050,000 in funding from the Ministry of National Economy and Finance via the ‘Environment and Climate Change 2021-2027’ program. The project aims to reduce the building's energy consumption by 52% through several interventions, including heating system upgrades, the installation of energy-efficient window frames, external thermal insulation, LED lighting, and the addition of photovoltaic panels.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2029. Additionally, the Municipal Committee will address a broader urban landscape improvement program for the eastern urban unit of Kalamata, with a total budget exceeding €21 million. Proposed priorities for these urban developments include the redevelopment of the Vagia area (the former earthquake camp) with a budget of €7,760,000, the redevelopment of the Eastern Center (former military camp) at €8,860,000, and the improvement of connecting roads at €4,600,000.
