Kalamoir Regional Park in West Kelowna Reopens Partially After June Wildfire

A wildfire that ignited on June 16, 2026 burned about 9.4 hectares of Kalamoir Regional Park near West Kelowna. The fire was declared out on June 30 by Fire Chief Jason Brolund.

Beginning at noon on July 3, the Regional District of Central Okanagan will allow public access to the southern portion of the park via the Collens Hill Road entrance. Reopened amenities include the Sunnyside Trail and the dog‑friendly Bowser Beach. Tracy Draper, director of park services, said the reopening is “an important step in restoring access…while safety remains our top priority.”

Geotechnical and hazard‑tree assessments cleared the area, but the northern sections stay closed. Hazard‑tree mitigation is scheduled to start on July 6 and last about a week. The district warns that trespassing in closed zones can result in fines up to $500.
