Kalasin police arrest student for threatening to shoot teacher

Police in Kalasin Province, Thailand, have arrested a 15-year-old Grade 9 student after he posted threats online to shoot a teacher at a local secondary school. The student also shared photos of a firearm and videos of himself practicing shooting, causing widespread panic among students, teachers, and parents.

Following the social media posts, the school transitioned to online learning for two days as a precaution. Authorities tracked the student to a residence in the Namon district, where they seized a homemade shotgun and ammunition that had been buried at a friend's house. The student reportedly purchased the weapon online for 3,000 baht.

The student faces charges for illegal possession of a firearm and has been handed over to investigators and a multidisciplinary team for further legal proceedings. School officials noted that the student had previously shown concerning behavior regarding firearms, for which parents had been previously warned.
