Kalavryta holds memorial service and honors religious milestones

In Kalavryta, a memorial service was held at the Holy Temple of Saint Nektarios to honor the ‘Kalavryti Mother.’ This annual commemoration pays tribute to the women who sustained their families and aided the city's rebirth following the Kalavryta Holocaust on December 13, 1943. The ceremony, organized by the Association of Kalavrytians in Athens in cooperation with local municipalities and victim associations, included a Divine Liturgy led by Metropolitan Makarios of Ptolemais and Metropolitan Hieronymos of Kalavryta and Aigialeia.

Separately, the Holy Metropolis of Kalavryta and Aigialeia has announced a celebratory Panegyric Hierarchical Divine Liturgy to honor Metropolitan Ambrosios, the former Metropolitan of Kalavryta and Aigialeia, marking 50 years of his hierarchical ministry. The service will take place on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Metropolitan Holy Temple of Panagia Faneromeni in Aigio. The event will feature several high-ranking clergy, including the Metropolitan of Patras, Chrysostomos, and will serve to recognize the spiritual and social legacy left by Metropolitan Ambrosios during his half-century of service.
