Kalavryta Municipality approves monthly allowance for educators
The Kalavryta Municipal Council has unanimously approved a monthly financial allowance of 100 euros for educators serving in the mountainous region. The initiative aims to provide financial incentives for teachers to work in the area, helping to offset the costs of living and working away from their permanent residences.
The measure is intended to ensure schools remain adequately staffed and to combat the region's demographic decline. The allowance applies to substitute teachers, newly appointed teachers with up to five years of service, and seconded educators in both primary and secondary education, as well as special education and support staff. To qualify, recipients must not own property within the boundaries of the Municipality of Kalavryta.
Approximately 40 to 45 educators are expected to benefit from the program, with the final number to be determined by applications. The funding for this initiative will be provided exclusively through municipal resources. Mayor Thanasis Papadopoulos emphasized that maintaining full staffing across the municipality's four municipal units remains a top priority for the local administration.
