Kale Mayor Erkan Hayla rescues man from construction roof

In the Kale district of Denizli, Turkey, a former football player for Kalespor, identified as Berkay Ç., attempted suicide by climbing onto the roof of a four-story construction site following domestic disputes with his wife.

Despite approximately one hour of negotiation efforts by police, firefighters, and family members, the individual remained on the roof. Firefighters deployed an air cushion as a precaution. Kale Mayor Erkan Hayla, who had previously helped the man secure employment at the municipality, arrived at the scene and climbed onto the roof to speak with him. Taking advantage of a moment when the man's attention wavered, Mayor Hayla grabbed him by the arm and pulled him to safety.

Following the rescue, Berkay Ç. was transported by ambulance to a hospital for medical evaluation.
