Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective releases new Enescu recording
The Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective has released a new recording via Chandos featuring works by George Enescu, including the String Octet in C major, Op. 7, and the Piano Quintet in D major.
The performance of the Octet is noted for its superb clarity, virtuosic flair, and balanced phrasing. The ensemble is credited with communicating complex textures and dynamics with poise, particularly in the first movement where the strings achieve a sound reminiscent of an organ.
The recording also features Enescu’s early Piano Quintet, which is described as having glorious color and a fine balance between the six players. The production is highlighted for its technical quality, allowing every musical strand to remain distinct.
