Kalendiya Refugee Camp in East Jerusalem Faces Continued Israeli Military Assault

Israeli forces have intensified operations around the Kalendiya Refugee Camp in the northern part of East Jerusalem for a second consecutive day. The army has demolished businesses, sealed the main road, and imposed a curfew in the surrounding area, while deploying additional troops to the Kalendiya Military Checkpoint.

More than 60 Palestinians, including women and children, have been detained and subjected to field interrogations, with reports of beatings, shackling and threats. Israeli troops entered a house belonging to Mohammed Cemil Ammar, placed explosives that partially detonated, and later held Ammar. Ambulance access to the camp has been blocked, complicating medical evacuations. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported treating ten injured persons and evacuating numerous patients despite restrictions on its staff.

The Jerusalem Governorate confirmed that the assault has lasted over 22 hours, with continued violations of civilian property and increased military presence in nearby refugee camps such as Cenin, Tulkerem and Nur Şems. The broader campaign follows an extension of military closure orders that now prohibit any entry to these camps without special permission, effectively displacing thousands of families.
