Kaley Cuoco Returns as Alternate‑Universe Penny in HBO Max Spin‑Off

Kaley Cuoco reprises her role as Penny seven years after The Big Bang Theory ended, appearing in the second episode of the HBO Max spin‑off Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. In this multiverse setting the character is an alternate version who leads a resistance against an AI‑ruled dystopia, has brunette hair and uses physical force – slapping Stuart, Bert and Barry to “de‑program” them.

The episode, titled “Spoiler: Zack’s in This One,” premiered on July 23. Co‑creator Chuck Lorre explained that the multiverse premise lets familiar characters return with entirely new backstories. The show also brings back Kevin Sussman as Stuart Bloom, Kunal Nayyar as an alternate Raj and Melissa Rauch as an alternate Bernadette, and is the first TBBT spin‑off to receive an MA rating for violence and language.
