Kalgoorlie hosts 35th Diggers & Dealers mining forum
Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, will host the 35th annual Diggers & Dealers mining forum from August 3‑5, 2026. The three‑day event is expected to draw up to 2,600 executives, investors, financiers, contractors, suppliers and government officials from the global mining sector.
Mayor Glenn Wilson said the town’s hotels, cafés and restaurants are buzzing as the influx of corporate visitors provides a significant economic boost during the region’s quieter winter months. Diggers & Dealers chair Jim Walker highlighted that discussions will focus on geopolitics, critical minerals, gold prices, energy and labour markets, with a particular emphasis on the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of gold, rare‑earths and other metals essential for electric‑vehicle and AI infrastructure.
Kalgoorlie, home to the massive Northern Star‑owned super‑pit and Australia’s first rare‑earths processing plant owned by Lynas Rare Earths, will also address the status of the nearby BHP‑owned nickel smelter, which remains offline until at least February 2027.
