Kalidou Diallo dies following drug raid in Gambia

Kalidou Diallo, a Senegalese social media personality known as ‘L’Homme de Ziguinchor’, died in Gambia following a police intervention in the Kanifing municipality.

According to reports from The Point, the incident occurred on the night of August 15 at Kerr Sering. Agents from the Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG) conducted a raid on an apartment based on intelligence regarding suspected drug trafficking. During the operation, officers reportedly discovered four packages of suspected ‘skunk’ cannabis.

Official accounts suggest that one of the occupants attempted to flee via a balcony, resulting in a fatal fall from the second floor. Diallo was transported to the Kanifing General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

However, the circumstances of the death remain controversial. While official reports cite an accidental fall during an escape attempt, allegations have surfaced on social media suggesting that agents may have used violence against the young man prior to the fall. An investigation is expected to clarify the exact sequence of events.
