Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran Calls for Regional Self‑Reliance at Murung Raya Anniversary
Governor Agustiar Sabran of Central Kalimantan presided over the 24th anniversary of Murung Raya Regency on 1 August 2026. In his speech he urged the region to strengthen self‑reliance based on local potentials and cultural wisdom, and highlighted ongoing programmes such as the KBHS assistance for nearly 5,000 families. He also warned against slash‑and‑burn land clearing as the dry season approaches.
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) General (Ret.) Djamari Chaniago stressed that stability in Kalimantan is essential for supporting Indonesia’s new capital (IKN) project and national security. He noted the island’s abundant natural resources—oil, gas, coal—and its strategic border position, calling for cooperation among government, private sector and communities to maintain peace, improve livelihoods and sustain development.
Both officials framed their messages as part of a broader push to ensure balanced, inclusive growth and security across Kalimantan.
