Kalimantan schools shift to remote learning amid forest fire haze
Educational authorities in Kalimantan are adjusting school operations due to worsening haze caused by forest and land fires. In Palangka Raya, the Education Office is evaluating the possibility of limited in-person learning as an alternative to remote learning (PJJ). This assessment considers school facilities, such as the ability to protect classrooms from smoke using wet cloths or improved ventilation, as well as student safety.
In South Kalimantan, the Education and Culture Office has instructed high schools and vocational schools in heavily affected areas to implement remote learning. The policy is flexible, allowing schools to switch to remote learning if haze remains thick by 10:00 AM. Authorities emphasized that the health and safety of students and teachers are the primary concerns while monitoring the situation.
