Kallinikos Mavroleon ordained Bishop of Myndos in Karpathos

Kallinikos Mavroleon was ordained as the Bishop of Myndos, serving as Assistant Bishop to the Metropolitan of Karpathos and Kasos. The ceremony took place on Saturday, September 19, at the Holy Church of Evangelistria in Karpathos.

The ordination was led by Metropolitan Ambrose of Karpathos and Kasos, with participation from various high-ranking clergy. Mavroleon was elected unanimously by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on July 23.

Mavroleon has a long-standing connection to the region, having served the local community since 1991 as a priest, spiritual leader, and Abbot of the Monastery of Agios Georgios Vasson. Before his clerical career, he served as a teacher for 33 years. Local officials, including members of parliament and the Mayor of Karpathos, attended the event, noting the historical significance of the appointment for the Dodecanese islands.
