Kallitechnoupoli residents protest noise from Bailey bridge

Residents of Kallitechnoupoli are protesting the intense noise and vibrations caused by a temporary Bailey bridge on Hierolochiton Street. The metal structure was installed by military services following road destruction caused by floods last April.

Local resident Georgios Chrysovergis and independent municipal councilor Giorgos Douvitsas have raised concerns regarding the impact on nearby homes. Chrysovergis described the vibrations as feeling like “an earthquake inside the houses,” while Douvitsas characterized the metallic noise as “deafening,” noting that it persists throughout the day and night.

Inquiries have been directed to the Mayor of Rafina-Pikermi, Dimitra Tseva, seeking technical inspections and updates on the permanent bridge project. Current reports suggest that the study for a permanent solution may take approximately six months, followed by procurement and implementation processes, meaning the temporary structure could remain in place for a significant period.
