Kallmünz introduces electronic residence registration

The Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Kallmünz has introduced an electronic residence registration (eWA) service to modernize its administrative processes. Residents moving within Germany can now register their new primary or sole residence online, free of charge, and without visiting the town hall in person.

To use the service, citizens require an ID card or eID card with an activated online function, a six-digit PIN, a smartphone with NFC capability or a card reader, and the AusweisApp. Users must also upload a landlord's confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) for rental properties. Once processed, a digital registration confirmation is provided, and the new address can be updated on the ID card chip via the AusweisApp.
