Kalocsa mayor Zoltán Bagó distances from MP Németh Balázs over water‑restriction claim
Fidesz MP Németh Balázs shared a Facebook post from Kalocsa mayor Zoltán Bagó to illustrate his claim that "Magyar Péter" had revived the Rákosi‑era of informers. Bagó clarified that the post concerned local water‑use guidance during a drought, not politics, and posted a response: "Elhatárolódom Németh Balázs országgyűlési képviselőtől, aki engedély nélkül, szándékosan félreértelmezve használta fel egyik Facebook‑posztomat!" He accused the MP of spreading fake news.
The dispute arose after the Ministry of Rural Development mistakenly announced a nationwide first‑level water restriction, later retracting the statement and apologising, noting that only a proposal for water‑saving measures had been issued and no such restriction was in force. Bagó, who won the 2024 local election as an independent after defeating the Fidesz candidate, emphasized that Kalocsa had not introduced any extraordinary limits.
Both officials highlighted the confusion over water‑restriction policy and the political use of local communications.
