Kalonzo Musyoka calls for probe into Kenya Ebola funds

Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called on the United States Embassy to investigate the use of grants provided to the Kenyan government for Ebola virus preparedness and response. Speaking at a rally in Mombasa on October 10, Musyoka accused the government of potential negligence and financial mismanagement regarding funds intended to protect citizens.

Following an imported Ebola case in Kenya on October 2, 2026, international partners provided significant financial support. This includes a Ksh259 million grant from China and over Ksh1.9 billion ($14.5 million) from the United States to enhance the country's ability to prevent, detect, and respond to outbreaks. Musyoka warned that any misuse of these funds could undermine national preparedness and put lives at risk.

During the same rally, Musyoka also announced the recall of Wiper MPs Joshua Kimilu and Danson Mwashako from their roles supporting Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi campaign. Musyoka stated the MPs would return to their constituencies to focus on Wiper Party activities, framing the move as the conclusion of a specific assignment rather than a political rift.
