Kalonzo Musyoka leads opposition protest over Taita Taveta land evictions

Opposition leaders in Kenya, led by Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka, have launched a protest in Taita Taveta County regarding disputed land evictions. The delegation visited Mkocheni, where numerous families have been living in makeshift camps for approximately one year following evictions.

Musyoka and other leaders, including Justin Muturi and Eugene Wamalwa, accused the government of presiding over a land grab that has left hundreds of residents, including women, children, and persons with disabilities, without food, water, or stable shelter. The opposition further alleged that the evictions violated constitutional rights to property and education by seizing land used for schools.

Musyoka stated that he has instructed Kathiani MP Robert Mbui to raise the issue in Parliament and intends to pursue contempt proceedings against the Registrar of Lands.
